Prof Dr Paul Gissen

Paul Gissen is a Clinician Scientist specialising in paediatric inherited metabolic disorders. He has been an honorary Consultant in Paediatric Metabolic Diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Sciences at the University College London (UCL) Institute of Child Health since March 2011, where he now heads the Genetics and Genomic Medicine academic programme.
After he obtained his medical degree from the University of Glasgow, he completed his Paediatrics training in Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham Childrens Hospitals, including subspecialty training in Inherited Metabolic Disorders. He obtained his PhD in Human Molecular Genetics from the University of Birmingham. His major research interest is in the understanding of underlying pathophysiology of intracellular trafficking disorders.
