Dr Hans Holthausen

• Board certified pediatrician and neuro-pediatrician with more than 30 years of experience in pediatric epilepsy.

• Medical studies in Bonn and Munich

• Education in Pediatrics and Neuropediatrics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich

• EEG fellowship and training in presurgical evaluation at the Cleveland Clinic

Past positions:

• Head section of presurgical evaluation in children at the Epilepsy Center Bethel/Bielefeld

• Head Neuropediatric Clinic and Clinic for Neuro-Rehabilitation, Epilepsy Center for Children and Adolescents, Vogtareuth/ Germany

• First chair of the of the TASK FORCE Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery of the ILAE

Current situation:

• Ongoing keen interest in pediatric epileptology, in particular in the surgical and mental outcome of children with epilepsies in association with structural lesions

• Clinical research, teaching and lecturing

• Honorary member of the German chapter of the ILAE

• Honorary member of the German Neuropediatric society

• He was head of the Neuropediatric Clinic and Clinic for Neurorehabilitation, Epilepsy Center for Children and Adolescents, Vogtareuth/Bavaria/Germany
until end of 2010 and he remains affiliated with the center as member of the medical and scientific advisory board for the Schoen-Kliniken in Germany.

Previously he was head of the presurgical unit for Children at the Epilepsy Center Bethel/Bielefeld (together with Prof. Ingrid Tuxhorn) for almost 10 years – after training in this field at the Cleveland Clinic during the years 1988/1989

• Ongoing keen interest in pediatric epileptology, in particular in early onset severe epilepsies, epileptic encephalopathies, mental outcome of children with epilepsy and epilepsies in association with structural lesions.

He and is spending most of his time now with the analysis of the large body of data from the epilepsy center in Vogtareuth and with teaching and lecturing in many parts of world, in particular in Russia.
