Prof Rosalie Ferner

Rosalie Ferner graduated in modern languages before studying medicine. She is a consultant neurologist and national lead for neurofibromatosis 1 service, based at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust London.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) 1 is a complex, inherited multi-system disease that has a major impact on the nervous system and pre-disposes to tumour formation. Rosalie Ferner leads a multi-disciplinary team of specialist clinicians to diagnose, treat, monitor and support people with neurofibromatosis. As a member of the medical advisory board and a Trustee for the Nerve Tumours UK charity, she links with medical colleagues and lay members of the organisation to support people with neurofibromatosis. Prof Ferner is vice chair of the European clinical care advisory board for Neurofibromatosis, working to give lifelong, cohesive and holistic care for people with this challenging condition.
Rosalie Ferner’s research with national and international collaborators focuses on defining clinical phenotype in the neurofibromatosis, the diagnosis of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumours and the development of robust clinical and patient centred outcome measures for monitoring novel therapies.
