Welcome Reception
SS Great Britain, Great Western Dockyard, Gas Ferry Road, Bristol, BS1 6TY
Wednesday 24 January 2024 – 18.30 to 20.00

SS Great Britain

SS Great Britain is a museum ship and former passenger steamship. It was the largest passenger ship in the world from 1845-1854, designed for the Great Western Steamship Company’s transatlantic service between Bristol and New York City. Brunel’s SS Great Britain tells the incredible story of one of Britain’s greatest engineers and one of the most important ships in maritime history. In 1970, the SS Great Britain Project brought the rusting shell of the SS Great Britain home from the Falkland Islands, braving 8,000 miles of stormy sea, in an attempt to save it from ruin and keep its story alive. The welcome reception will be held onboard the SS Great Britain with an opportunity to meet Mr Brunel himself!

Dinner is not included on Wednesday evening, so you are free to explore the many restaurants in Bristol.  Booking is advised.
